Akron City FC To Join USL Two Beginning Summer 2025

Akron, Ohio & Tampa, Fla. – The United Soccer League announced today that Akron City FC will join USL League Two beginning in the 2025 season.

The club was established in 2021 by a dedicated group of local businesspeople who love soccer. It has steadily progressed through other pre-professional leagues, consistently improving with each season and laying a strong foundation for its transition to USL League Two.

The club’s mission is to proudly represent Akron and its surrounding communities by bringing people together through a shared passion for soccer. The club has firmly established itself within Akron’s dynamic sports landscape. It’s vibrant supporter culture and fan base, led by supporter group the Rubber City Underground, truly embodies the spirit of the city. Match days have become a celebration, offering an entertaining brand of high-level soccer, along with other fun experiences for fans of all ages. An Akron City FC home game is a must-attend event, earning its place on any summer entertainment checklist.

Most importantly, Akron City FC remains dedicated to showcasing the talents of local players and coaches, offering them opportunities to excel on a national stage.

Akron City will compete in the Central Conference in 2025 and will be coached in their first League Two season by Andy Hoggarth, his third year overall leading the club.

Additionally, the club has established official Community Partnerships with 17 local community soccer clubs, reinforcing its commitment to the growth and development of the sport at the grassroots level.
