Akron City FC Welcomes Springside Athletic Club as a Founding Partner for Inaugural Season

Akron City FC Partners with local athletic club for team training needs and to collaborate on promoting health and wellness at all ages.

Akron, Ohio - Akron City Football Club (ACFC) announced its new partnership with Springside Athletic Club (Springside) to be the team’s preferred indoor soccer and training facility. Along with all 2022 sponsors, Springside will be forever memorialized as a Founding Partner of the club. Founding Partners will be remembered always for their belief in ACFC’s vision and for being a foundational piece in building an organization that will be a part of the Akron civic and sports landscape for generations to come.

Established in 1973, Springside Athletic Club (215 Springside Dr., Akron, Ohio 44333) is Akron’s most complete multi-athletic, fitness and recreational facility. Programming for all ages includes tennis, racquetball, pickleball, soccer, group fitness, general fitness, golf and basketball. Its mission is to provide members with the opportunity to achieve their health and fitness goals in a state-of-the-art facility that promotes a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere. Springside will provide ACFC much needed indoor space to train during the winter months, as well as a place to hold other team events and youth camps and clinics.

“The more we spoke with the ACFC group, the more we realized how aligned our mission and values were,” says Springside Owner Brian Steere. “Soccer has a rich history at Springside dating back to the days of the Cleveland Force, and we’re excited that ACFC has emerged to elevate the sport throughout our Akron community.”

“The harsh reality of owning a team in Northeast Ohio is finding indoor space for the team to train during the winter months and we are very fortunate to now have access to a state-of-the-art facility,” stated ACFC Owner, Nick Turchan. “Beyond just the facility, the more we spoke with Brian, the more we realized how intertwined many of our goals were, including being community driven and family friendly, with a laser focus on health and wellness. This partnership just made too much sense.”

Akron City FC was announced as the newest expansion team in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) on September 16, 2021. Their addition fills a long-standing gap within the league’s footprint as well as in the Akron sports market. According to Dina Case, NPSL Director of Membership Development, “Akron is an exciting market, which we have earmarked for years as an ideal expansion location.” ACFC’s inaugural season kicks off in May 2022.
